"Selection Process" section[edit source]

Please mark sentences in "Selection Process" section for translation which is not marked with <translate> </translate>, yet. Thanks in advance.--Miya (talk) 10:24, 8 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Exec8:, thank you for trying to mark the section I mentioned above, but I'm afraid that is not the way to do with mw:Extension:Translate. See mw:Help:Extension:Translate/Page translation example.--Miya (talk) 12:07, 8 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Miya: please check again.
Exec8, it woks now! Thank you!!--Miya (talk) 02:10, 9 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

About the deadline[edit source]

Hi, I have a question about the deadline. On this page says that the deadline is March 16, but in the application form says "March 9, 2020, 23:59 UTC -/+12". Someone could confirm which is the correct date? Thanks, --Constanza Verón (WMAR) (talk) 19:21, 17 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

How about asking in wikimania-l mailing list? https://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikimania-l/2020-February/008913.html says "Deadline for applying for scholarships: *16 March 2020* 23:59:59 UTC."--Miya (talk) 12:16, 18 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Exec8, as far as I understand, you clarified this matter on page. Can you please mark the changes for translation? -- Ата (talk) 12:36, 18 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Multi-language application form?[edit source]

The application form is in English, should I correct "multi-language application form" in the text of the page then? -- Ата (talk) 17:13, 18 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Good catch, Ата. Thank you. This has been fixed now. --Qgil-WMF (talk) 12:28, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What happened?[edit source]

Why are we using Qualtrics (third-party vendor), instead of our own application software we've been using till 2019? And where is the standard privacy statements like foundation:New Editor Experiences - Participant Survey Privacy Statement? — regards, Revi 14:16, 19 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Also please clarify whether you delete partial completions or save it. — regards, Revi 14:42, 19 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please find the privacy statement: https://foundation.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania_2020_Application_Form_Privacy_Statement

You just answered 1 out of my 3 questions:
  1. Why are we using Qualtrics (third-party vendor), instead of our own application software we've been using till 2019? -> no reply
  2. And where is the standard privacy statements like foundation:New Editor Experiences - Participant Survey Privacy Statement? -> I got it.
  3. Also please clarify whether you delete partial completions or save it. -> no reply
Thanks. — regards, Revi 17:43, 27 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Responses in progress are recorded for 1 week after applicants last activity.ICueva (WMF) (talk) 21:16, 27 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

We planned to phase out our scholarships software and introduce a new tool and process based on a new CRM platform. The expected benefits of this new platform were better usability for application reviewers and application decisions and user data stored (with user consent) to better inform decisions of future scholarships committees. However, we ran into a hard blocker just a few days before launching the scholarships process and we had to find a short term solution. Qualtrics was already used in the context of Wikimedia and had been vetted by the Legal and Security teams at the Foundation, so we decided to use it. It's a one-time solution for this exceptional situation, we are not planning to use it again for future scholarships processes.ICueva (WMF) (talk) 21:18, 27 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the answer! — regards, Revi 10:05, 28 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

CAPTCHA[edit source]

Probably too late now, but it is cumbersome to have that CAPTCHA on the last page of the survey, with no possibility to browse forward. I completed the form before noticing that my browser doesn't display the CAPTCHA, and on my second try could not skip the other pages to see if I would now be successful. Automatic email confirmation[edit source]

Sorry for the inconvenience, but I have quick question: when a person completes his application for the scholarship does he immediately receive an email confirming the request or it takes a few days? Because I haven't received any mail, so I'm afraid having write wrong my email address...Thank you so much for the reply goodbye!--GabrieleBellucci (talk) 08:40, 21 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think they are sending confirmation emails. I asked at IRC but no one replied. But then I tried to complete the form again, and I received an "already sent" message. --Cuatro Remos (talk) 13:53, 21 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot Cuatro!--GabrieleBellucci (talk) 13:47, 25 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Applicants should have seen an on-screen confirmation on their submitted application. Due to feedback, we have now added an automatic email once applications are submitted. ICueva (WMF) (talk) 21:17, 27 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No acknowledgement email[edit source]

Applicants should see an on-screen confirmation of their submitted application once they hit the last submit button. They will not receive emails. --Exec8 (talk) 05:50, 25 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Exec8 for the information !--GabrieleBellucci (talk) 13:46, 25 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I went to the Wikimania page to apply for a scholarship, put my name in and accepted, and I got a message saying that my application had been sent even though I hadn't filled out any applications nor complete any survey, so I didn't get to write anything. Now when I enter, it tells me that I have already sent my application and that I have already completed the survey, which is not true. Please, I need to be able to send in a sholarship application. How do I do that? --Jaluj (talk) 15:36, 25 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Now I've tried from another browser. I could enter but when I begin to write it does not accept the answer. I see a message "Character remaining 0" but I am just begining! What kind of form does not allow you to answer? How do I do?--Jaluj (talk) 16:03, 25 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

please email me at icueva@wikimedia.org and i will assist you ICueva (WMF) (talk) 21:17, 27 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Age limit for Scholarships[edit source]

Hello, I want to participate in the project and need a scholarship. However, I'm 14 years old. So I was wondering if there is any age limit for the scholarship. Thank you in advance.--Gevorg Ghazaryan (talk) 17:32, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No limit. Refer to our Scholarships/FAQ for further info. --Exec8 (talk) 05:47, 3 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Username changes[edit source]

Hi! I rename my username just a few days after I've applied for the scholarship, am I to re-apply again with the new username or the application with the old username is OK? ThanksM-Mustapha (talk) 00:04, 9 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Since an adjoining First and Last name is added with the old username, submission should be fine. There is no need to re-apply again. User:JLetang (WMF) (talk)
