I started editing Wikimedia projects in 2016. My home wiki is Georgian Wikipedia. Since 2016, I have been a member of the WMGE, and since September 2017, I have been a Member of the Board of Wikimedia UG Georgia and, since 13 August 2019, the Chairman of the UG. Since January 2020, I have been a Member of the Affiliations Committee.

Wikimedia UG Georgia, over the past 2 years, has taken a big step towards cooperation with the Gov agencies of Georgia at the local level. This greatly helps the affiliation in its activities towards developing Wikimedia projects and the Wikimedia Movement in Georgia. It also helps the affiliation in promoting the idea of Freedom of Panorama in Georgia at the parliamentary level, which makes it possible for the affiliation to introduce FOP in Georgia. All this opens up great opportunities for the development of affiliation and Wikimedia in Georgia and also helps to promote free knowledge at the local level.

Since 2020, Wikimedia UG Georgia has begun to actively cooperate with the State institutions in Georgia, which helps the affiliation to develop and popularize Wikimedia projects and the movement locally. This also has a positive effect on the growth in the number of active contributors to Wikimedia projects, as well as the overall growth of the local community in Georgia.
Our goal is also to introduce Wikipedia into the educational life of the country with the help of state institutions, in which these cooperations play an important role. And also, one of our goals is to attract the resources that the state has for the benefit of free knowledge, as well as the popularization of free knowledge locally.
We hope that our experience will be useful to our colleagues globally.
