Abstract & description[edit source]

Abstract[edit source]

As a student leader with about five years experience and community developer expert with relevant experience in educational institutions in Africa, I am proposing the adoption of a more successful style which also matches the interests of the targeted students around the world through relatable and mental development tasks.

Description[edit source]

This session is aimed at achieving the first and the sixth Wikimedia 2030 Movement Strategy recommendations, which are: 1. Increase the Sustainability of Our Movement.

6. Invest in Skills and Leadership Development.

Participants will learn proven creative programs/ideas that will increase students active participation across various Wikimedia projects in their respective communities and countries.

One of the best ways to have a sustainable movement is to adopt an effective and world-class model that captures our targeted audience in specific areas. Students will graduate and become professionals in their respective fields which they can in return invest in the movement in a more sustainable way.

Also, this presentation would emphasize the need to rebrand the title: fan club members with Wiki Ambassadors program with the goals of developing student leaders across the world. This can be done through Open Fellowship for Students across the world in Cohort annually. This will unleash the creativity of students and also continue to contribute to the sum of the knowledge in the world.

In addition, using this efficient technique will help the mission of Wiki in Schools through Wiki Clubs program produce noticeable results that will lead to the desired transformation in the global movement.

Incorporation of exchange programs, internship opportunities across different chapters, affiliates, user groups or thematic organizations will also add as the icing on the cake for the student leaders to learn from and benefit from.
