Abstract & description

Abstract

Presentation of the book WikiEducación. Prácticas y experiencias educativas en México con Wikipedia y otros recursos abiertos created by the Wikimedia Mexico chapter in 2023.

Description

The book Wikieducación. Prácticas y experiencias educativas en México con Wikipedia y otros recursos abiertos, is a collaborative work that presents the work of each educator who has bet on integrating Wikipedia and Wikimedia projects inside and outside the educational area of Mexico.

The book is divided into three sections.

The first one presents the programs carried out by the Mexican chapter: Editatona, BAM (Libraries, Archives and Museums) and Wikieducación, the Education Program.

The second section: Wikieducational Experiences, presents the educational experiences that teachers and academic staff from different regions of Mexico have promoted in their educational institutions, libraries and laboratories, based on three simple questions: What motivated you to integrate Wikipedia in your educational classroom, Would you implement it again, and Why, thus reflecting the need to respond and transform the pedagogical practice for the production and construction of free, common and shared knowledge.

Finally, the third section: Pedagogical practices in the construction of knowledge. Contributions of the use of Wikimedia projects in education, focuses on the importance of looking inside our academic spaces and recognizing the need to involve students in their educational processes and to recognize them as subjects capable of researching, writing, thinking and acting critically. In addition, teachers should know that the collective production of knowledge generates relevant impacts on society, thus challenging the dominant educational relations and structures.
