Natalia Rodriguez

Hola! My name is Natalia and I am the Sr. Product Manager for the Community Tech tools. I’ve had the experience of running the Community Wishlist Survey twice. Prior to WMF, I wrote programming courses for Codecademy (check out the R courses here) + co-built products to increase learning engagement for the platform. I’ve also tackled knowledge accessibility with the American Museum of Natural History by building products with the Science Visualization Group and teaching at the Bridge Up STEM program. In my free time, I like to interrogate assumptions and romanticize the power of community while reminding myself individuals are complex! I was born in Mexico and am currently living in NYC.

Abstract[edit source]

A forum to discuss the future of the Wishlist via the lens of challenges and lessons learned over the years

Description[edit source]

Dive deep into the Community Wishlist Survey via the lens of metrics, lessons learned, and oral history about how the Wishlist came to be. Help us understand what the movement needs for decision making input into technical resources and how they get spent on needed improvements to the platforms.

Further details[edit source]

Qn. How does your session relate to the event themes: Diversity, Collaboration Future?

The discussion about the future of the Wishlist needs to take into account equity as it relates to participation in the Proposal and Voting stages. Right now, the average participant in the CWS has a high edit count– how might we center edit count diversity and language diversity in the sourcing of ideas for improvements? How might we measure the impact of a given Wish as it pertains to equity? These questions will shape the evolution of the Wishlist.
