This workshop is co-led by the Let’s Connect Peer Learning program and the Capacity Exchange project (CapX). Do you want to be more connected to peers in other regions to learn form them, but also to share your skills? If you are interested in knowing more about how these tools work and gaining some key tips to be part of peer exchanges in the Movement this workshop is for you!

CapX is a web application under development that seeks to facilitates peer connections across diverse communities, fostering collaboration. Let’s Connect is a program that offers support for peer learning in a fun and safe environment. By the end of the workshop, participants will understand how they can participate in the Capacity Exchange and Let’s Conenct and some good practices to find good peer connections and prepare to make these exchanges successful!

How does your session relate to the event theme, Collaboration of the Open?

This session directly aligns with the event theme of “Collaboration of the Open” by highlighting the essential role of open collaboration within peer learning initiatives in the Wikimedia movement. By presenting the Capacity Exchange project while focusing on the framework of the Let’s Connect Peer learning program, two initiatives promoting open collaboration and knowledge sharing, the session emphasizes how peer-learning produces meaningful connections and a two-way learning experience. Collaboration of the open means not only sharing but also exchanging capacity: skills, knowledge, services, etc. Through engaging in practical exercises, and participating in interactive discussions, participants will gain insights into fostering open collaboration within their communities, ultimately contributing to the overarching theme of the event.

  • BUKOLA JAMES
I am a certified Nigerian librarian and the Regional Liaison Officer for the Sub-Saharan Africa on the Let's Connect working group. I am also the Community Coordinator for the Africa Wikipedian Alliance and serves as the Special Advisor for the Wikipedia + Education User Group. Additionally, I am an active member of the Creative Commons Open Culture Platform.
As the founder of the Kwara State University (KWASU) Wiki Fan Club in 2022, I promoted the use of Wikimedia projects among the university's staff and students. My role as a Content Campaign Organizer includes co-organizing the first WikiClimate Campus Tour in Nigeria and leading the inaugural Reading Wikipedia in the Classroom Nigeria as a certified Trainer.
My involvement extends to various Wikimedia initiatives within and outside Nigeria. Furthermore,I have provided facilitation and mentorship support to other Wikimedians, fostering collaboration and guiding new editors in their journey to become fully integrated into the Wikimedia community, ensuring they feel safe and have a sense of belonging. My work within the Wikimedia community has been focused on fostering community engagement and promoting open knowledge.

**Andi Inácio** is the project manager of the [Capacity Exchange](https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Capacity_Exchange) (CapX) project. Wikimedian since 2021, is a member of [Wiki Movimento Brasil](https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wiki_Movement_Brazil_User_Group) and a co-founder of [WikiMulheres+](https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/WikiMulheres+). As a History PhD candidate, she researches decolonial, feminist protocols (and dreams of times of [Knowledge Equity](https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Strategy/Wikimedia_movement/2017/Direction#Our_strategic_direction:_Service_and_Equity)) for Wikimedia.
  • Jan-Bart de Vreede
Jan-Bart de Vreede has been involved with the Wikimedia movement since 2006. He is a CapX Advisory Committee member, Chair of Wikimedia Nederland and co-host of the quarterly “Wikimedia Europe & Friends” conference call. He served on the Wikimedia Board of Trustees in what was arguably a simpler time and has still managed to make his fair share of mistakes. At Wikimania he is excited for meeting old friends and being involved in the Let's Connect sessions :)
