2025:Hackathon/Project Submissions
The Wikimania Hackathon 2025 is coming, and we want your project ideas! Whether you're maintaining a tool, improving MediaWiki extensions, designing for better usability, or working on bots, gadgets, or documentation, this is your chance to collaborate and innovate with Wikimedia's technical community onsite at Wikimania.

- 🎯 Who can submit?
- Anyone attending Wikimania 2025 onsite — developers, designers, translators, newcomers, experienced contributors, and organisers.
- 🛠 What to submit?
- Tools, scripts, bots, MediaWiki or Wikidata development, design/UI work, documentation or translation projects, or anything technical that supports Wikimedia.
- 📍 Onsite only
- Please note: this hackathon will be held entirely onsite. Project leads and collaborators must be present in person.
- 📅 Deadline for submission
- Open through out the hackathon period
How to Submit Your Project
To ensure all projects are visible and organized, please follow these steps:
- Go to Wikimedia Phabricator and click Create Generic Task.
- Or click on the link to fill in the details using the submission template below.
- Add the project tag: #Wikimania-Hackathon-2025
- Click Create New Task.

For Newcomer Friendly tasks, Please browse through the projects below. These are newcomer tasks as some mentors are willing to provide support for completion.
