The Wikimedia ecosystem thrives on knowledge equity, yet many communities; especially persons with disabilities; face barriers to full participation. Wiki for Inclusion is a commitment to breaking these barriers, amplifying marginalized voices, and transforming communities through accessible and inclusive Wikimedia projects. This lecture presentation will showcase how Wikimedia initiatives can be more inclusive, particularly for individuals with hearing impairments and other disabilities. Through practical examples and success stories, we will explore innovative approaches, tools, and best practices that promote digital accessibility, equitable knowledge-sharing, and stronger community engagement.

Session Objectives By the end of this presentation, participants will: a. Understand key challenges and barriers faced by persons with disabilities in accessing and contributing to Wikimedia projects.

b. Learn about successful inclusion strategies and tools that enhance accessibility and encourage participation.
c. Discover how community-driven initiatives are empowering diverse contributors and reshaping Wikimedia’s ecosystem.

I’m a Ghanaian female editor with over 9 years experience on diverse Wikimedia projects such as Wikipedia, WikiData, Wikicommons and translate wiki platforms amongst others. I have a wealth of experience per my previous role with AFFCOM and Regional Grants Committee. Over the past 5 years, I have been a Co- Lead and Project Manager for Wiki Hour Initiative where our passion is to drive connections between people with disabilities, specifically hearing impaired, empower young girls, and address sustainable topics on Wikimedia eco spaces.
