This session invites past, present and future Wikimedia organizers who have worked on or are interested in the Conference & Events. In the session we will reflect on its purpose, impact, and future direction, while identifying what's missing and what can be done differently.

Description

As the world around us is shifting — with a shifting external climate, evolving community needs and the strategic direction of our movement— the way we organize Wikimedia events must also adapt. This session invites current and past organizers of Wikimedia Conference & Events to reflect on its purpose, impact, and future direction, while identifying what's missing and what can be done differently. Through a mix of lightning talks and facilitated group discussions, we will explore how to keep our events safe, inclusive, and relevant. What challenges are organizers facing today? What’s missing in our current event models? And how can we reimagine future Wikimedia gatherings to be more resilient, safe and secure, while remaining community-driven. Whether you're a grantee, volunteer, or stakeholder, this is your space to share, question, and help shape the future of Wikimedia's event ecosystem.
