Description

The Improve article suggestion API in the Content Translation tool is an instrument in bridging knowledge gaps across Wikipedia's multilingual ecosystem. This workshop delves into the transformative impact of topic-based and community-defined translation suggestions, examining how this strategic technological intervention can increase content creation and hands-on practice using the feature for different purposes.

Participants will engage in the following activities: - Hands-on exploration of the feature. - Collaborative strategies for identifying and translating high-impact articles. - Practical demonstrations on using collection tags to prioritize translation efforts.

The workshop will offer a unique opportunity to: - Understand how the improved translation suggestion feature works. - Learn strategies to enhance the discoverability of important content curated by organizers for WikiProjects and campaigns. - Test our mental model of the feature based on user feedback, and on the spot usage, which can help the team improve it.

I am a Wikimedian and a co-founder of the Igbo Wikimedians User Group. My volunteer contributions primarily focus on the Igbo language Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons, Meta, and Translatewiki. I am also committed to participating in initiatives aimed at closing the gender gap.

For the past four years, I have been working with the Wikimedia Foundation as a Movement Communications Specialist, where I support the Language and Product Localization team. My role involves engaging targeted communities to gather their perspectives and feedback on various tools and products for the product team.
