New grantees, or those living in administration-heavy regions, are often required by the Foundation to have a fiscal sponsor. Great, but what does that mean? Who's this person and why do I need them?

Description

This talk will be very much hands-on on how folks can and should run their WMF grants. The key thing with a grant is 1. get things done and 2.not drown under paperwork

We will explain what a fiscal sponsor does, and what he does not. We will explain why proper record keeping is important, and how to do it in as simple a manner as possible.

You should come out of this understanding what it is that the WMF wants to see admin-wise, and better prepared to manage any kind of project that involves someone else's money.

How does your session relate to the event theme, Wikimania@20 – Inclusivity. Impact. Sustainability?

This is mostly aimed at User Group and participants who want to begin new projects and do not know where to get started. There have been lots of questions, and being able to discuss face to face really helps
