This lecture provides the process of WikiPatriot is a project initiated by the Wikimedia Jakarta community to document the graves of notable figures buried in the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery, Indonesia's largest public cemetery. The lecture discusses in-depth its inception, negotiation process with the Ministry of Social Affairs, the process of documenting, and the process of cataloguing and improving articles using the documentation.

WikiPatriot is a project initiated by the Wikimedia Jakarta community to document the graves of notable figures buried in the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery in Indonesia in Wikimedia Commons and improve the information on the notable figures in English Wikipedia by using the documentation and other source available. The project was inspired by an archived database of national heroes' graves, which provided valuable information for completing Wikipedia biographies. The project involved negotiations with the Ministry of Social Affairs as the ministry that manages Kalibata Heroes Cemetery and other historical cemeteries. The project, which involved a team from Wikimedia Jakarta, documented around 200 gravestones and took 1,236 photos over two days. The collected data was uploaded, cataloged, and used to enhance Wikipedia articles through several edit-a-thons, completing the project by November 24, 2023.
This session serves as a case study of the process of collaboration with government agencies, especially Indonesia, regarding the documentation of historical sites. This session may also serve as an inspiration for users, contributors, or communities who intended to do similar projects.

This session would relate to the themes of Wikimania by promoting the impact of Wikipedia communities on the preservation of history, especially through historical buildings, and promote inclusivity through the inclusion all walks of life that were buried at the cemetery by documenting their life in Wiki projects.

- Jeromi Mikhael is a longtime Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons user who has been contributing to the projects for about 7 years by writing articles (esp. biographies) and contributing photographs (esp. prominent people). He is a member of the Wikimedia Indonesia user group and the Wikimedia Jakarta Community and has been involved in several community projects such as the Wikipatriot and Hibah Buku.
