The annual WikiWomenSummit x Wikimania is a gathering of WikiWomen* individuals, co-designed in feminist solidarity, focused on gender inclusion and equality, making the Wikimedia movement more gender equitable and inclusive. The Wiki Women Summit is a dedicated forum to amplify the voices of women in the Wikimedia movement. Each year the organising team aims to create a safe and inclusive space to share strategies, debate, reflect, and forge alliances and shared agendas. Additionally, interactive networking opportunities and an action-planning session empowers participants to take concrete steps toward increasing gender equity in Wikimedia spaces. This will also include highlights of the WikiWomen Lunches organised in various Wikimedia Conferences recently. Through knowledge-sharing, mentorship, and collaboration, this initiative aims to strengthen the presence and impact of women across Wikimedia platforms. Participants will leave with new skills, strategies, and connections to support their engagement and leadership in Wikimedia projects.

How does your session relate to the event theme, Wikimania@20 – Inclusivity. Impact. Sustainability?

The Wiki Women Summit 2025 aligns closely with Wikimania 2025’s theme—Inclusivity. Impact. Sustainability—by addressing gender gaps in Wikimedia projects, empowering women contributors, and fostering long-term participation. 🔹 Inclusivity: This summit directly contributes to inclusivity by creating a safe, supportive space for women and gender-diverse contributors in the Wikimedia movement. It focuses on increasing women’s participation in content creation, leadership, and technical development, ensuring that diverse voices are represented across Wikimedia projects. It is inclusive for all of WikiWomen*, without regard to any other criteria (newbies, veterans, staff, etc.). 🔹 Impact: By equipping participants with essential skills apart from on-wiki skills like advocacy and community leadership, this summit enhances the quality and quantity of presence related to women and gender-related topics. The discussions and activities will inspire attendees to take actionable steps toward a more equitable Wikimedia ecosystem. 🔹 Sustainability: The event will be designed to create lasting impact by fostering mentorship networks, forming action plans, and encouraging continuous engagement. The strategies developed during the summit will support long-term gender equity efforts within Wikimedia, ensuring that the movement remains diverse and resilient for years to come. By integrating these core values, the Wiki Women Summit 2025 contributes to a more inclusive, impactful, and sustainable Wikimedia movement at Wikimania and beyond.
