Wikimedia Ukraine has been running Wiki Loves Monuments since 2012. Since the second edition we started adding special prizes (such as 'Greek heritage' or 'Elements of exterior') with a double purpose: increase diversity of content we attract, and build interesting partnerships. This lightning talk will cover our experience.

Description

Wikimedia Ukraine has been running Wiki Loves Monuments since 2012. We quickly noticed that the official government lists do not represent the first diversity of cultural heritage. Since the second edition we started adding special prizes (such as 'Greek heritage' or 'Elements of exterior') with a double purpose: 1) increase diversity of content we attract, in scope (additional objects) or in angles (such as elements of exterior or interior, less common aspects) 2) build interesting partnerships, usually with organisations focused on some type of heritage (e.g. windmills). These special prizes were a significant success and helped us attract new participants and get unique content. This lightning talk will share the experience of special prizes of Wiki Loves Monuments in Ukraine - and hopefully inspire others!
