Not working?
Hello Robertsky, Msz2001 and Tacsipacsi, you have all modified this template in the past. Currently, it does not work for me. For example, in Template:Wikimania 2026 header/text, when I hover over "Home", I see that the link is 2026:Wikimania , but I would expect it to be Special:MyLanguage/2026:Wikimania (my interface language is set to French). I do not want to modify this template by myself, in case I break something. Could one of you therefore fix it to add multilingual support? Pamputt (talk) 12:55, 29 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Pamputt This template is working as intended. The template checks for availability of the linked page with the current page's language. If there is, it will serve the page. If not present, it will serve with the Special link. So naturally, if you look at the English version, all the links will be in English, while the French version, Template:Wikimania 2026 header/text, the links will be all pointing to the respective French version if the linked pages are translated.
- When I had this template out, it was a deliberate decision for the information to be presented consistently in a single language throughout the visit unless the visitor changes the language through the <languages /> bar. It separates the decision making to change the site language from the information presentation. Robertsky (talk) 13:39, 29 October 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Robertsky, thanks for the explanation. My problem occurred when I clicked on 'Designs'. Since there is no content yet, there is no translation, and so the language of this page is English. If I click on another menu, I arrive on an English page. The switch between languages should therefore disappear as the pages are populated. Pamputt (talk) 13:48, 29 October 2025 (UTC)
