WMF Quizzes/2026 (T)

From Wikimania

Preliminary specification

  • Anything under the sun is possible; however, questions will primarily be based on MediaWiki and how its technical features are used in Wikimedia.
  • Participants will need a laptop. This should be one of Windows 10/11, a supported version of macOS or Linux. Android and/or iPad tablets with a keyboard may be useable in some cases (this will mainly depend on how the final specification looks like). Phones cannot be used.
  • A technical background is expected. Some questions will be accessible to newer developers, but users that are unfamiliar with the technical side of MediaWiki or those with little to no Wikimedia experience are likely to struggle. The Wikimedia Hackathon is designed for relatively experienced developers, and the quiz will be written keeping that in mind.
  • The event will be in-person only.
  • The questions will be released publicly; this event will not be recorded.
  • The quiz will be timed as a whole, but participants will be free to skip around and answer the questions in any order. Manual scoring will be used.
  • The use of internet and AI is expected to be partially allowed.

It is important to note that there is no expectation to get every question right; questions in this quiz will span a wide range of difficulty levels and there will be a few that will be very challenging, just as there would be a few questions that participants should be able to access easily. This is by design.
