Roles
This page hosts requests for rights access on the Wikimania wiki. The following roles are able to be granted, and by which existing role:
- administrator
- uploader
- IP block exempt
- bureaucrat
- account creator
- bot
- interface administrator
- administrator
- bureaucrat
- translation administrator (admins can grant this to themselves)
- steward (from Meta)
- transwiki importer
- importer
All roles, and the respective rights, can be seen at Special:ListGroupRights, though it is not envisaged that those other rights would normally be required at this wiki.
Process
At this stage, the overarching management of the wiki is within the control of the respective organising committee or the parent chapter for the forthcoming Wikimania. It is envisaged that they will designate the appointment and removal of the administrators and bureaucrats from their committees, or from volunteers assisting in the management of the wiki.
Rights may be granted on either a temporary or an ongoing basis.
Requests for rights should be made below with an explanation of your reason for requesting the rights, and if you have experience in that role, and where.

Remove bureaucrat, admin and interfaceadmin from inactive users
Like in 2022, I would like to suggest to remove advanced rights from inactive users. This currently applies to:
- Omar sansi (talk • contribs • block • all projects) (interfaceadmin, last logged action on 2024-08-08)
- Billinghurst (talk • contribs • block • all projects) (bureaucrat, administrator, last logged action on 2023-07-11)
- K2suvi (talk • contribs • block • all projects) (administrator, last logged action on 2021-02-22)
- TheDJ (talk • contribs • block • all projects) (administrator, interfaceadmin, last logged action on 2024-08-08)
- Yamen (talk • contribs • block • all projects) (administrator, last logged action on 2023-08-17)

- @Ameisenigel just realised that crats here cannot remove admins, unlikely on enwiki and probably elsewhere. Should we standardise this functionality? if so, I can prepare the patch for it. (throwing question to @Jdforrester as well.) Robertsky (talk) 07:20, 26 August 2026 (UTC)
- In most wikis crats cannot do this and Stewards need to do this upon request at m:SRP. However, I think it would be useful if it could be done by local crats here on Wikimania wiki. --Ameisenigel (talk) 07:25, 26 August 2026 (UTC)
- @Robertsky: It would be much more convinent. Also most rights changes here should naturally be uncontroversial, so no need for the Stewards to handle these as default. —— Eric Liu（Talk） 15:38, 1 September 2026 (UTC)
