Expression of interest to be an Organizer

Dear Wikimania 2027 Organizing Committee, I am writing to express my keen interest in joining the organizing team for Wikimania 2027. As an active member of the Wikimedia movement, a software engineer, event organizer, and an advocate for free knowledge, I am eager to contribute my experience and skills to ensure a successful and impactful conference. I have been actively involved with Wikimedia projects since 2011, particularly in promoting and expanding Sindhi Wikipedia. My contributions include content creation, technical enhancements, community engagement, and training new contributors. I have also led several Wikimedia events and workshops in Pakistan, focusing on digital literacy, Wikipedia editing, and the documentation of cultural heritage. Some of my relevant experiences include: Event Organization & Community Engagement: I have successfully organized and led Wikimedia workshops and conferences, including the Sindhi Wikipedia Awareness Workshop (2017) and Wiki Loves Folklore 2024 events in Pakistan. These events involved coordinating volunteers, managing logistics, and fostering collaboration among participants. Technical Expertise: With a background in software engineering, I have experience in web development, data management, and multimedia production, which could be valuable in handling the technical aspects of Wikimania. Multilingual Communication: I am fluent in Sindhi, Urdu, and English, and have experience in translation and localization efforts, particularly for Wikimedia projects. Cultural and Educational Outreach: Through my initiatives, I have worked closely with academic institutions and cultural organizations to promote Wikimedia’s mission in underrepresented regions. I believe Wikimania plays a vital role in strengthening the global Wikimedia community, and I am enthusiastic about contributing to its success. Hello, @JogiAsad, thank you for sharing your interest. We initiated our initial conversation on Meta-Wiki in December and submitted the EOI here two months ago. The application is currently under review by the Wikimania Steering Committee. We will get in touch once we receive a response regarding our application.
