Boston Wikipedians are developing a formal bid to host Wikimania 2006, the second international Wikimedia conference, sometime next summer.
Major support centers:
- Harvard Law School: the Berkman Center for Internet & Society
- MIT Media Lab: the electronic publishing group
- Harvard Medical School: Biophysics 101, IGEM 2005, GMC
- Local support (add yourself)
Wikimania brings together wiki developers, Wikimedia contributors and users, and researchers of wiki culture and free knowledge. Last year's program included over 40 presentations, panels and tutorials; and attracted 380 attendees from 50 countries.
