Environment/School Strike for Climate: Free Knowledge and the Climate Emergency
Description
[edit | edit source]The Fridays For Future movement is raising awareness for the climate emergency, and by mobilising youth across the globe, it has had a significant impact on politics since it was created by a Swedish girl called Greta Thunberg a year ago.
We will welcome two leaders of the Fridays For Future movement in Sweden to hear their story and discuss the connections between education, access to knowledge, and climate awareness.
Relationship to the theme
[edit | edit source]Climate change directly affects all of the Sustainable Development Goals, as it will have a significant impact on all life on earth.
Session outcomes
[edit | edit source]Participants will gather an insight into the following topics:
- Why do Fridays For Future activists believe that raising awareness about the climate crisis is more important than their own education?
- What role does Wikipedia play for the Fridays for Future movement?
