2019:Quality/Use Wikidata as a platform to support specific causes
This is a Closed submission for Wikimania 2019. It has been reviewed and was not accepted. |
Description
[edit | edit source]In this short talk I will describe how Wikidata may be used to increase the coverage of scholarly papers for particular topics. This will show the use of a combination of tools ie Reasonator, Scholia and SourceMD. Particular attention will be given on the gender gap.
Relationship to the theme
[edit | edit source]This session will address the conference theme — Wikimedia, Free Knowledge and the Sustainable Development Goals — in the following manner: As more papers are included, particularly the papers who relate to sustainability and development goals, people will find it easier to make use of Wikidata as a discovery tool for information.
Session outcomes
[edit | edit source]At the end of the session, the following will have been achieved: As more papers and authors become known in Wikidata, it will enable another approach to notability in Wikipedia; given the involvement in particular papers notability may become less subjective.
