2019:Tē-tiám
Wikimania 2019 will take place in the Aula Magna at Stockholm University. The university was founded in 1878 as a college, but was recognized as a university in 1960. It has two scientific fields: the natural sciences and the humanities. It consists of four faculties: law, humanities, social sciences and natural sciences, with over 34,000 students. Alltogether, it is one of the largest universities in Scandinavia.
The main part of the university lies in the Frescati area, and is located in the first national urban park in the world. The area has a lot of nature, and is characterized by its architecture and modern art.
It is easy to get to the venue with public transport. The main campus, Frescati, is located closely to the metro station Universitetet, on the red line of the Stockholm Metro. SL buses 40, 70, 540, 608 and 670 can also be used to get to the campus.
Aula Magna
Aula Magna is the largest and main auditorium at Stockholm University. Here, Nobel lectures and important scientific conferences have been held. Aula Magna will be the central area of Wikimania 2019: the large auditorium will be used for the opening and closing ceremonies and plenaries. Around the auditorium, there's several smaller meeting and seminar rooms which will be used for different spaces and meetings. In the gallery outside, the community village and other important Wikimania features will take place.
Södra huset
Most of the workshops and seminars will take place at Södra huset (Southern house), located just next to Aula magna and connected by an outdoor area on the campus. Södra huset usually houses university courses, as well as the university library, a calm and relaxing space that will also be open during the conference days. The house is sometimes also called the "Blue house" because of its blue color.
