Recent happenings around the World has reinforced the need to protect the earth from rapid degradation and ensure prosperous living standards in our environment. Climate Change and environmental issues has gained increasing global attention over the years. Thus, this presentation will x-ray the use of Wikimedia projects to address climate change and environmental issues in Nigeria and other parts of the World.

Learning Outcomes[edit source]

1. Understand the peculiar environmental issues in Nigeria and in most African countries.
2. Find out the intersection between Wikimedia projects and the actualization of environmental sustainability.
3. Understand the possible ways to promote environmental literacy in a region using Wikipedia.
4. Identify possible challenges faced in the use of Wikimedia projects to tackle environmental issues.

Biography[edit source]

Omorodion Okuonghae is a Librarian, researcher and Wikimedian. He holds bachelors and Masters degrees in Library and Information Science and has published over 30 scholarly works in reputable peer reviewed journals around the World. He enjoys editing on English Wikipedia at his spare time.

Jeremiah Ugwulebo is a librarian, researcher and Wikimedian. He possesses a bachelor and masters degrees in Library and Information Science with some active years of experience in the research and publishing aspect of librarianship. He is a volunteer with the Wikimedia foundation and an active editor on English Wikipedia.
