Abstract
[edit source] Wiki Loves Monuments (WLM) is an annual international photographic competition held during the month of September, organised worldwide by Wikipedia community members with the help of local Wikimedia affiliates across the globe. Participants take pictures of local historical monuments and heritage sites in their region, and upload them to Wikimedia Commons.
Through the session we would like to help new organizers to understand the basics of organizing WLM in their respective countries, which will include requirements from forming a team to the final jury that takes place. In addition to the process, we will also be providing some real-world case studies by national organizers.
Learning Outcomes
[edit source]- Understand the goals and importance of WLM
- Getting to know the basics of organizing WLM in a country for the first time or with a new team
