Abstract

[edit source]

This lightning talk seeks to collect testimonies of those volunteers who even in the most difficult days of the Venezuelan crisis managed to find time to edit Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons and Wikidata amongst others Wikimedia projects, and how this turmoil affected the local community and the functioning of the local chapter.

Learning Outcomes

[edit source]

This type of talk is an exercise to listen to the community, the participants will take away "survival" recommendations to edit Wikipedia despite all the difficulties of a country in crisis, although it is also a cautionary tale as well on how easily a community can be broken down by this scenario.
