Question about screenshot from sessions[edit source]

Hi

I've seen a couple of people say that sharing screenshots from sessions and other meetings at Wikimania is not allowed because of the code of conduct. However I can't find anything in the friendly space policy that says this, the nearest thing I can see is 'Respect people’s privacy and anonymity', if this means 'don't share screenshots from meetings' then it would be really helpful if this could be made explicit because a lot of people are sharing screenshots e.g on Twitter.

Thanks

Personally, I think there is quite a difference between sharing screenshots from informal social events involving conference attendees, as opposed to broadcast presentations where the speakers know that recordings of their events will appear on YouTube or Commons. If that distinction isn't made clear, perhaps it ought to be. Nick Moyes (talk) 15:26, 16 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@John Cummings: This question was also brought to the attention of the Safety Support Team. Thanks for the request for clarification. The Friendly Space Policy states indeed: 'Respect people’s privacy and anonymity'. This is a general statement, and includes but is not limited to the scenario of screenshots and photos of other participants. This is made more explicit in the FAQ and during the housekeeping message at the conference opening.
Screenshots and photos are in light of that policy only acceptable when there is explicit consent of all people in the picture, and/or no expectation of privacy (e.g. a screen shot of a presenter during their presentation from the youtube stream). Hi Effeietsanders thanks very much for the clarification, if it could be said explicitly in the friendly space policy as an example this would be super helpful, currently a lot of indiviudals and Wikimedia orgs are sharing screenshots. Also I think there is a mistake in the way that section is formatted, I guess the first few words used to be bold like a section heading? --John Cummings (talk) 18:54, 16 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
