Abstract

In this session we will present to the community about the upcoming big project that the User Group is planning for to enrich the content of the Arabic Wikimedia projects.

Description

The session will be introducing to the community about the upcoming project organized by the Wikimedians of UAE User Group called “The Million Wiki” project. The project aims to create 1 Million contribution to various Arabic Wikimedia Projects including Wikipedia.

Objectives: 1) introduce the community about the project 2) present to them the strategy and plan of the project 3) the goals of the project and its challenges 4) expected outcomes of this project 5) get the feedback and comments from the community

Qn. How does your session relate to the event themes: Diversity, Collaboration Future?

The Million Project is all about forming collaborations with various users and institutions in order to meet the three-year goal of enriching Arabic Wikimedia projects with a million contributions. This project will also involve collaborations with individuals, user groups, and organizations from various volunteering group and cultures. The project will run for three years, with each year serving as learning experience for the Arabic Wikimedia community who is working together to make free information available to everyone.
