National Library of Singapore is one such organization that has a strong alignment with the Wikimedia Movement. The National Library is the custodian of Singapore’s documentary heritage, and its mission is to provide trusted information, preserve our history, promote reading and learning, and champion library innovation. NLS has a rich collection of books, newspapers, manuscripts, maps, photographs, oral history interviews, audiovisual materials, music scores, ephemera and more, covering various aspects of Singapore’s history, culture and society.

The session relates to the event themes in the following ways:

Diversity: The National Library’s collections reflect the diversity of Singapore’s history, culture and society, as well as its connections with the region and the world. NLS strives to make its collections accessible and inclusive for all users, regardless of their background, language, ability or location. The National Library also values the diversity of perspectives and approaches that researchers bring to its collections, and supports them through the National Library Digital Fellowship and other initiatives.

Collaboration: The National Library recognizes the importance of collaboration and partnership in achieving its mission and vision. The National Library works closely with various stakeholders, such as government agencies, academic institutions, cultural organizations, community groups, publishers, authors, donors and volunteers, to enrich its collections and services.
