Butch Bustria is an Overseas Filipino Worker / Wikimedian (OFW) based in Singapore, He use his spare time in doing Wikimedia projects. His first edit was in December 2005 with a series of edits about the Philippines’ hosting of the Southeast Asian Games. In 2010, he along with 4 others co-founded Wikimedia Philippines, the second Wikimedia chapter in Southeast Asia. In 2017, he joined in organizing the first ESEAP conference in Bali, Indonesia and the first ESEAP Strategy Summit in Bangkok, Thailand. He also part of the core organizing teams of the second ESEAP Conference in Sydney, Australia and is an Event lead for Wikimania 2023 in Singapore. The closing plenary for Wikimania 2023 is the final event of the conference, where the participants will reflect on their learnings, achievements, and challenges, as well as to look forward to the 19th edition of Wikimania in Krakow, Poland. The ceremony will feature a speech by a prominent Wikimedian, a presentation from the Central and Eastern European Wikimedians, and a farewell message from the ESEAP Wikimania 2023 Core Organizing Team.

The objectives of the closing plenary are:

● To summarize and highlight the main outcome and impact of Wikimania 2023 ● To acknowledge and appreciate the contributions and efforts of the participants, speakers, partners, and volunteers ● To inspire and motivate the participants to continue their involvement and engagement with Wikimedia ● To introduce the host location and theme of the 19th edition of Wikimania

The closing ceremony will be held on August 19, 2023, from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre. The ceremony will be a hybrid event, with both in-person and online components. The in-person attendees will be able to enjoy some refreshments and souvenirs at the venue, while the online attendees will be able to join via a live stream and interact through a chat platform.

The ceremony will consist of four main segments:

Featured speech: A renowned Wikimedian will deliver a speech that will entertain and inspire fellow Wikimedians to enjoy contributing in the Wikimedia projects Reflection: This program section will showcase some of the achievements and impacts of Wikimania 2023, such as new partnerships, collaborations, projects, initiatives, and innovations.

Handover: The host location and theme of the 19th edition of Wikimania will be announced and introduced by a representative from the organizing committee from the Wikimedians of Central and Eastern Europe. The announcement will include some information about the location, date, venue, and theme of the next Wikimania, as well as an invitation for potential participants, speakers, partners, and volunteers.

Farewell message: The organizers of Wikimania 2023 will deliver a farewell message to thank the participants, speakers, partners, and volunteers for their support and participation. The organizers will also share some of the lessons learned and experience faced in organizing Wikimania 2023, as well as solicit some suggestions and feedbacks for improvement for future event planning.

Diversity: This session showcases the diversity of the Wikimedia community and its projects, as well as the diversity of the participants’ perspectives and experiences. We aim to create a space for reflection and evaluation, as well as appreciation and recognition, of the differences and similarities among the participants.

Collaboration: This session fosters collaboration among the participants, both in-person and online. We encourage the participants to share their feedbacks and suggestions, as well as their learnings and achievements, with each other. We also acknowledge and appreciate the collaboration of the speakers, volunteers, partners, and organizers in making Wikimania 2023 a success.
