Abstract & description
[edit source]Abstract
[edit source]Tatar Wikipedia Contest organization and Partnership development practices and approaches for engaging, acknowledging and recognizing Wiki-stakeholders, contributors, supporters and promoters. Developments since 2019 Wikimania presentation.
Description
[edit source]Wild Ideas track also applicable. Wikimedia Vision and Wikipedia Purpose have a chance of being achieved if and only if Wikimedia movement finds and grows ways and means of developing project ownership and motivation/benefits for engagement with it for all Wikimedia stakeholders. Sustainable growth of Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects depends on on-going generation of added-value for its readers and giving back to its editors and supporters community. Tatar Wikipedia is one of the non-dominant language edition, thus has harder time getting reader, user and possible partner attention. We will present approaches helping us to feel confident today (Wikipedia is now generally seen as toxic topic and partnership in Russia) and looking forward (with AI-powered assistants and machine-translation speeding up knowledge generation and cultural transformation).
Further details
[edit source]Qn. How does your session relate to the event themes: Diversity, Collaboration Future?
Imagine 9+ billion people feeling intimate ownership of Wikimedia projects and materials therein, and effectively collaborating accross languages, cultures and experiences. Tatar Wikipedia is one of the lesser-resourced language editions and its community is looking for ways to engage and sustain more onwiki and offwiki cooperations. These help us grow the project and make it more visible for search engines and respected by speakers.
Qn. What is the experience level needed for the audience for your session?
