Phoebe Ayers

Phoebe is an academic librarian, specializing in computer science and engineering. She is a former WMF Board of Trustees member, current Wikimedia Endowment board member, and member of the Wikimania steering committee. She’s a long time editor in English Wikipedia, Commons, and Wikidata, has led many edit-a-thons and trainings, organized many Wikimedia events, and spoken widely about the Wikimedia projects. She’s a fan of citations.

Amy Parker

Amy Parker is Director of Major and Planned Giving at the Wikimedia Foundation, where she’s responsible for major gift fundraising strategy, including legacy giving and the Endowment Campaign. She previously held fundraising leadership roles at the Smithsonian Institution, The New York Public Library, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Immediately prior to joining Wikimedia, Amy lived in Hong Kong and worked as an international fundraising consultant. Phoebe Ayers is currently a trustee of the Wikimedia Endowment. From 2009-2015 she was a trustee of the Wikimedia Foundation. She is an editor on English Wikipedia, Wikidata, Commons and meta; and co-authored a book about Wikipedia called How Wikipedia Works. She is also an academic research librarian at MIT, specializing in computer science and engineering.

The Wikimedia Endowment is a permanent fund whose mission is to provide a safety net to Wikimedia projects into the long term future. In this session, a Community Trustee of the Wikimedia Endowment Board and a member of the fundraising team will share an introduction to the Endowment – what it is, how it works, and how it will help ensure the future of Wikimedia projects – followed by questions and discussion.
