[edit source]VGLUG FOUNDATION is a community started in 2013, having decade experience in FOSS world. Conducted various FOSS events, training and hackathons through this we are trying to bring rural youths into the FOSS ecosystem.

[edit source]VGLUG Foundation is a community started in 2013, having decade experience in FOSS world. Conducted various FOSS events, training and hackathons through this we are trying to bring rural youths into the FOSS ecosystem.
Our main objective is to take forward free software and its ideological implications to all corners of our country from the developed domains to the underprivileged, to create awareness among computer users in the use of free software, to take forward implementation and usage of free software in school education, academics, and higher education, etc.
How to reach Rural peoples? FOSS is for all peoples , VGLUG is using FOSS as a tool to eradicate poverty. I have listed some of the VGLUG works below:
1. 100 GLUGS in 100 villages This initiative aims to set up 100 glugs in 100 villages and it makes awareness about the FOSS among the rural youths. Currently, we have initiated 5 village HUBS; each HUB is connecting nearby villages. Around 100 to 150 students are coming, They are in the 11 to 25 age groups. 2. College GLUGS
VGLUG initiated the college GLUGs to reach out to college students. In Each college, we reached out to 800 - 1000 students through the weekend and weekly evening classes. I have listed the college GLUGs below.
3. FOSS trainings: VGLUG is actively involving in FOSS trainings, Conducted various trainings with interships which impacts the village college students to learn about latest FOSS technologies .Especially for womens It helps to get jobs in sofware sides.
6. Hackathons
- Wikimedia Hackathon 2022 at Villupuram, Tamil Nadu, India Hosted by VGLUG with the help of the Wikimedia foundation. It was a free hackathon event conducted by VGLUG, Villupuram, Tamil Nadu, India for the following dates May 20, 2022 - May 22, 2022. The event was held at Villupuram for the above-mentioned dates and mainly focused on Wikimedia projects and their related project tools design, apps, plugin creation, and existing project feature development by using open-source software. It is open to all interested participants willing to showcase their talents. - Conducted Python hackathon on 2019 . From that we selected students for python trainings
