Basically I am a doctor. For the last 10 years I am editing all types of articles in Wikipedia, of which majority are of medical topic, the total number of which has exceeded 2300. As of 17/03/2023 the page view of my articles is 2,29,422. I am a very senior doctor. I have worked as Asst. Professor in KIMS Medical College, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India and also worked as Joint Director in Government of Odisha, India. I was a Member of the Board of Wikipedia Med Foundation, Special Advisor of the Board of Wikipedia Med Foundation and Associate Editor of WikiJournal of Medicine.

Abstract & description

Abstract

There is famine of medical literature in many regional languages as it is a technical subject, has its own language and is written like a research paper. We have developed a new way by which new editors can also easily translate and edit medical related articles in their own regional language.

Description

Out of all knowledges the most important is the medical one for survival which will lead to acquire and distribute sum of all knowledge to every human being. There is flood of medical articles in English language and in contrast there is famine of such articles in regional languages. Therefor I worked hard to increase the number so that people would at least know the salient features of different diseases if not in entirety. I expect to help users/editors to increase the number of med articles in their languages. At present, there is Simple English articles meant for children and long articles as well. One can’t write all alone such a huge number of articles in their languages. So, we decided to edit the salient features of articles with references keeping in view the norms of Wikimedia. I decided to inform the editors of regional language about a different method of editing articles during Wikimania 2023. In my presentation, I will let the users know, how to edit concise articles and who will be able to do it with ease. For this reason, I want to present an article. (I have been working in Wikipedia as a volunteer for last ten years.
