Description
[edit source]This session is focused on the use of Wikimania for educational initiatives and networking with female educators. The session aims to explore the various ways in which Wikimania can be used to promote knowledge sharing and collaboration in education, and how female educators can leverage this platform to connect with others in the field. The session will begin with a brief introduction to Wikimania and its history, as well as an overview of the different educational initiatives and projects that have emerged from this community. We will then discuss the specific ways in which educators can use Wikimania to promote knowledge sharing, including attending sessions and events, participating in discussion groups and forums, joining WikiProjects or community groups, and volunteering or participating in hackathons. Next, we will focus on the topic of networking with female educators, and explore the unique challenges and opportunities that exist for women in the field of education. We will discuss strategies for building connections with other female educators through Wikimania, including attending diversity and inclusion-focused sessions, joining relevant community groups, and participating in hackathons and volunteer projects. The session will also provide an opportunity for attendees to share their own experiences and perspectives, and to learn from others in the field. We will encourage participants to engage in discussion and ask questions throughout the session, with the aim of fostering a collaborative and inclusive learning environment. Overall, the objective of this session is to highlight the ways in which Wikimania can be used to promote knowledge sharing and collaboration in education, and to provide female educators with practical strategies for networking and building connections within the community. By the end of the session, attendees should have a better understanding of how to leverage the opportunities provided by Wikimania to support their own educational initiatives, as well as how to connect with other female educators who share their interests and goals.
