Abstract & description[edit source]
Abstract[edit source]
Our movement strives with new data sources, but it isn't always clear how we can make the most out of it. In this workshop, we will showcase how to download Wiki Education Dashboard's data and visualize it in ways that can shape the data-driven story you've been looking for.
Description[edit source]
Chances are you have used, seen or participated in a campaign that uses the Programs & Events Dashboard to track and report Wiki-activities, or you're curious about it!
This workshop plans to expand the usefulness of this dashboard by showcasing how this data can be processed and visualized with a programming language that was specifically designed for statistical computing and graphics: R, and its user-friendly "code processor" (a.k.a "integrated development environment"): RStudio.
In this workshop, participants will learn how to: 1) Merge different CSVs from different campaigns 2) Filter and subset relevant data 3) Explore information through user-friendly data visualization
You will be guided by two experts on teaching people with no-programming background. So shake your fears and dare to learn how to tell that data-driven story you've always wanted to!

Qn. How does your session relate to the event themes: Diversity, Collaboration Future?
We believe that in order to continue to collaborate and diversify our movement, we need to understand the data available. In this workshop, we will show how to use an open-source free software programming language that can be used in any country and will help our communities to better understand the data they produce and thus work towards a more diverse, and better connected future.
Qn. What is the experience level needed for the audience for your session?
Everyone can participate in this session
Qn. What is the most appropriate format for this session?
