I am Nitesh and my username is Nitesh Gill. I am pursuing my PhD in Punjabi Literature from the University of Delhi, Delhi. I am the Punjabi language freelance and book translator. I am working with the Punjabi Wikimedians User Group since 2015. I have been working with the Center for Internet & Society - Access to knowledge (CIS-A2K) since 2019. One of my Wikimedian friends, Gaurav Jhammat, we have initiated the idea and conducted it for the Punjabi community for the very first time and for next year with three more communities. The event went well and we have planned it for more years and proposed it properly with other communities. During doing this, we realised Indian communities also need to work on-Wiki policies. Abstract & description
[edit source]Abstract
[edit source]Wiki Loves Literature is an initiative led by the Punjabi Community which aims to increase the coverage of literature-related topics on Wikimedia projects.
Description
[edit source]The Punjabi community has been working on the idea of the content of content enrichment and community growth and it is taking forward the needs of the community, culture and content. We don’t have too many articles on Wiki due to only a few editors but we are trying to find some ways to engage existing Wikimedians. The idea of Wiki Loves Literature is to work together on the same topic and increase people to work on it.
This initiative has been organized twice in previous years and on the second occasion we collaborated with three more communities. We aim to find ways in engaging the global Wikimedia communities. The recently launched EveryBookItsReader campaign has a similar focus and we would like to collaborate further with them.
