Lots of indigenous Hausa cultures and traditions are disappearing due to Western influences. This culture is rich and therefore far healthier especially when it comes to food and dressing in some cases. These cultures represent the aboriginal Hausa culture, but sadly, many of our folks are getting more and more used to the western way of life, and hence, the newer generations and the outside world seldom know about these cultures and traditions. The Wikimedia Hub, Umaru Musa Yar’adua thought of bringing an entertainment session during the 2023 Wikimania showing the rich Hausa Culture; dressing, cuisine/food, dance, etc. We will showcase some of the olden and aboriginal dress modes, foods which are very useful in the olden days but yet going extinct, and some traditional dances. This session will be pre-recorded and shown during the 2023 Wikimania and also provide pictures of this tradition which will be added to the Commons

A cultural entertainment session will be pre-recorded for the 2023 Wikimania. This session will cover indigenous traditional music/dance, dressing, food/cuisine, etc. A dedicated song in the Hausa language will be created about Wikimedia Mission and Vission during the event. Qn. How does your session relate to the event themes: Diversity, Collaboration Future?

This event is aimed towards documenting culture that are in a risk of extinction. This will therefore serve as a call to local communities, eapecially across Africa to stick to their original way of life and will hence the video and pictures uploaded to commons will serve as a reference for future use.
