2023 talk:Registration

From Wikimania

Conference Fee[edit source]

I wish that On-Site attendance of Wikimania at least for people who made for example 50 edits or something like that in the last six months will be free. From my point of view especially next year there are people in Europe who would attend at Wikimania if there is no conference fee also if they have to pay the accommodation and travel cost on their own. It is from my point of view import to give something back for the engagement of people as volunteers in a project. Outside of such an big On-Site-Event I think it is important to stay connected online. I wrote in the past that I wish a possibility to have online conversations at a virtual space like a WorkAdventure map and maybe also a possibility to get conversations with a low bandwidth done. Scholarships would ideally be the answer to this, except that they're woefully underfunded. Sdkb (talk) 11:59, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Registration Question: What is your home wiki?[edit source]

This question stumped me:

What is your home wiki

Is this project where I've made the most edits?

Is this where I spend most of my time?

When I saw the choices I was more confused:

  • Wikipedia
  • Wiktionary
  • Wikiquote
  • Wikinews
  • Wikisource
  • Wikibooks
  • Wikiversity
  • Wikivoyage
  • Wikimedia Commons
  • Wikidata
  • Wikispecies
  • Meta-Wiki
Choices sourced from open-event-frontend-acad69c98e04738b20d4f9bdc1bc73e6.js

Whatever the intention, the question and the response are not self-evident.

Furthermore, I say this question discourages inclusion--it's inside baseball and insulting.

Explanatory text? Why isn't there any explanatory text?

I am sure there was a lengthy discussion on what questions to include on the registration form. I acknowledge I am late with my objection. --CmdrDan (talk) 21:54, 19 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
