Title: Governance committees and the movement Speaker: Dumisani Ndubane, Joe Sutherland Abstract: The Wikimedia movement's continues to redefine community participation in Governance structures, from the Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees (BoT) to the Language Committee. Governance Committees continue to do important work that make the movement function. From recognizing new Affiliates, resolving serious privacy onwiki cases, onwiki disputes to drafting movement roles. But what are these committees and how accountable are they to the community they both govern and represent? This will be a hands on workshop for committee work and call to action for reviving or setting up new community Governance committees.
