The Leadership Development Working Group will share the leadership development plan and host a brainstorming session to identify ways to bring leadership development to life. Part of the LDWG's vision for this is a Leadership Development Network that we would like to discuss with you. You’ll be the first to join!
Leadership development is necessary for the health and sustainability of our movement. The Leadership Development Working Group, a global, community-based group of 15 community members, spent the last year responding to Movement Strategy’s Invest in Skills and Leadership Development. We drafted a leadership definition and leadership development plan with the purpose of bringing alignment, awareness, and support to this topic. Now, we would like to share our work with community members and invite you to join us in pursuing leadership development initiatives.
In this workshop, we will present the leadership development plan we’ve drafted and host a brainstorming session to discover avenues for the implementation of this resource. We will use this opportunity to kickstart a “Leadership Development Network” and invite you to be a founding participant of this network. The session objectives include:
Encouraging and supporting community members interested in pursuing leadership development initiatives
Informing community members about the leadership development work we have been working on over the last year
Beginning a network of community leaders interested in developing leadership in themselves and others
Paving the way for contextual implementation
This session is for anyone interested in movement leadership development and looking to take action on this topic. For example, you may be a facilitator or trainer wanting to help others develop leadership skills; an affiliate or group leader wanting to continue developing or pass on their knowledge; or a new leader eager to grow their abilities. By “leader,” we refer to individuals and groups across the movement – from affiliates and informal groups to organizers, trainers, and those focused on on-/off-wiki governance.
