About me

I am Cameroonian and Pedagogue by profession; My parents gave me the name BILE Rene - a little geek.

I love the world of free and open source software ... and just recently I liked the Wikipedia galaxy, where the community is also active around several projects.

I like to learn and share, I like to meet people and especially to discover new experiences.

I would like to grow in the community and especially contribute in my way.

My work

I started the experience of Wikipedia in Cameroon in 2016 through the project Wikivillages of Cameroon. After the contest, I joined as a member the user group: Wikimedians of Cameroon User Group. Since then, I have been assisting the community in its many projects. I could discover the world of programming on Wikipedia, also topics like WikiData interest me. I assist these projects in Cameroon as trainer : Wiki Loves Africa, Wiki Loves Earth, Wiki Loves Women and WikiChallenge Ecoles d'Afrique/en 2021.

The period from February 2021 - May 2022 saw me Vice-President of the UG, as project manager. I had to lead a team of passionate contributors who were able to become trainers on Wikimedian campaigns.

I have accompanied several Code for Africa (CfA) training sessions. In 2023, I was Wikipedian-in-Residence (WiR) Fellow. Our work has focused on mobilizing and combatting climate change and associated misinformation. I am now active on training sessions that they offer.

In August 2025, I will once again be joining the team of WiR with CfA, this time for the AWA-EPD DYP which focuses on digital technology in general and particularly in Burkina Faso and Chad.

After my role as vice-president of the UG, I help with Wiki Wake Up Afrique.
