About me

My first Wikipedia edit was an anonymous contribution to the "Spore" article, likely in 2009. I was only 9 years old at the time and didn’t really understand what I was dealing with.

I graduated from the Physics and Mathematics Lyceum No. 61 in Bishkek (2017) and earned a degree in Law (2022).

2022–2024, I worked at the Archival Service under the Ministry of Digital Development of the Kyrgyz Republic.

I have a wide range of interests, but my primary areas of focus are physics, history, law, geography and movies.

My work

Over 48 000 edits across all Wikimedia projects (excluding interface localization) since 2018. Administrator of the Kyrgyz Wikipedia (since 2021) and the founder of the Kyrgyz Wikimedians User Group. I have made significant contributions to localizing Wikimedia project interfaces, Wikimedia Foundation policies, information pages and templates on Meta, Commons and Governance Wiki into the Kyrgyz language; to resolving technical issues, developing content and combating vandalism on the Kyrgyz Wikipedia; to Commons and Wikidata.

In 2021, because of my visible activity in the Kyrgyz Wikipedia, I became a de facto facilitator in the Kyrgyz-speaking community. By coincidence, that same year, two people from different fields who had just joined the Movement reached out to me via email independently of each other, proposing to develop the Kyrgyz-speaking community. This allowed us to join forces quickly and build a successful collaboration. This sparked much of what you might hear about the Kyrgyz-speaking community today, starting from 2021→

More Detailes

2018–2021, I predominantly edited in the Russian Wikipedia, due to the depressing situation and practically complete absence of positive activity in the Kyrgyz Wikipedia. My first conscious edit was also anonymous and took place directly on a talk page.

In April 2021, I decided that it was time to develop Wikipedia in my native language. Having witnessed the inner workings of a Wikipedia project with thousands of active, experienced editors daily, I realized how far behind we were. While the Kyrgyz Wikipedia is still far from ideal today in terms of both quality and activity, it was significantly worse back then.

By 2021, the project suffered from critical issues: uncontrolled vandalism for years; interface partially in English (even the "Publish" button), including namespaces; quality of already localized interface was low; localization of "Wikipedia" itself caused questions; no shortcuts; many names of articles with unencyclopedic name and/or content, practically without sources; duplication of articles because of negligent bot uploads in previous years; discussions of anything including articles on all talk pages could be counted on fingers; there was only one "rule" – regarding requirements for administrator and that one not passed discussion and formal approval; was not formed stable intra-wikipedia vocabulary; even were cases when users from other language wikis, study groups used Kyrgyz Wikipedia as sandbox; one group of users, who had a community on one of the social networks where they came up with "Kyrgyz analogues" of borrowed words, started using Wikipedia to promote their ideas etc.

In August 2021, I became an administrator, and since then, I have focused more on administrative work and the systemic development of the Kyrgyz Wikipedia.
