About me
My real name is Mohammad. I am Iranian, born and raised in Iran, and currently living in Hamburg, Germany. I studied History at Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz, completed my MA in Ancient Iranian History at University of Tehran, and subsequently earned a second MA in Manuscript Cultures at the Centre for the Study of Manuscript Cultures (CSMC), University of Hamburg, where I am currently continuing my academic work.
Outside of academic and Wikimedia activities, I enjoy watching films and traveling. I also have a professional interest in beer culture and am currently writing a book in Persian on the cultural history and practices of beer consumption.
My work
I have been contributing to Wikimedia projects since 2008, with more sustained and focused activity beginning in 2010. My work has primarily centered on Wikipedia, Wikidata, and Wikisource. I am an administrator on Persian and Tajik Wikipedia, and I also hold administrative access on Persian Wikisource. I edit under the username Darafsh, inspired by the legendary Derafsh Kaviani.
I co-founded the Iranian Wikimedians User Group in 2015. From 2023 to 2025, I served as the lead coordinator of the Tajik Wikimedians User Group. As of 2025, I am a board member and currently serve as the Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Iranian Wikimedians User Group (2025–2027).
