About me
I have been working in the field of international development and education for the last ten years, specifically in the areas of policy advocacy, evaluation, project management and teaching practice.
I grew up in Canada, the UAE and Egypt and I speak English, Arabic and basic French. In my free time, I like to read, start creative DIY projects, garden, exercise and watch sports. As an amateur musician, I also spend a lot of time learning about the history of music and its tie to culture and society. During my graduate and undergraduate studies, I specialized in international development studies and international education policy.
Throughout my career, I have been invested in supporting the move towards more equitable learning opportunities, particularly for children who would have otherwise not had access to these opportunities. Part of the work towards knowledge equity in the region that I focus on is through building effective partnerships with mission-aligned organizations to support access to and creation of knowledge.
Before joining Wikimedia Foundation, I worked in various settings within the fields of education and development, schools, foundations, NGOs and research centers. These organizations mainly focused on the Arabic-speaking region or the Middle East and North Africa.
My work
As a part of the Community Growth team within the Advancement department, I build partnerships for the Wikimedia community in the Middle East and North Africa region, working to support them in expanding their network of contributors, readership and content.
