Session type
[edit | edit source]Each Space at Wikimania 2019 will have specific format requests. The program design prioritises submissions which are future-oriented and directly engage the audience. The format of this submission is a:
- Lightning talk - 10 min
Description
[edit | edit source]This session will briefly introduce the model of the TrainingsKit and then focus on how to develop teaching materials for teaching Wikipedia or other Wikimedia projects. The aim of the session is to share our learnings and provide specific methods and tips on how to implement a project like this in other communities or language versions. There should be enough time in the end to answer questions by the audience.

Relationship to the theme
[edit | edit source]This session will address the conference theme — Wikimedia, Free Knowledge and the Sustainable Development Goals — in the following manner:
Theme 10: Reduce inequalities
Training-Kits help overcome inequalities. Teaching Wikipedia spreads knowledge on how to contribute. If more contributors are better equipped to teach Wikipedia, there will be more opportunities for teaching Wikipedia, which allows more people to become contributors.

Relation to other Spaces
[edit | edit source]We believe there is a close relation to the community growth space because helping Wikipedia editors to train newbies is also an important way to attract and also to retain newcomers.

- Room: Projector
- Audience: Educators in Wikimedia projects, community members who are interested in training newcomers
- Recording: Recording, filming, streaming, distributing is fine with us and appreaciated.
