Session type
[edit | edit source]Each Space at Wikimania 2019 will have specific format requests. The program design prioritises submissions which are future-oriented and directly engage the audience. The format of this submission is a:

Description
[edit | edit source]This session will address to all the resources that can be useful for community members in various projects. Wikimedia Serbia has devoted its time to create video tutorials about editing Wikipedia in order to reach out to those who had interest, but felt insecure to edit because they didn’t know the rules. Beside technical instructions, volunteers can benefit by learning soft skills in terms of cooperation with institutions. That’s why we made instructions for Wiki ambassadors and Wikipedians in Residence. Several Wikipedians created new communication channel - Discord server which proved to be very active and useful for quick questions and answers. All of these improved communication and the best thing is - everyon e can do it!

Relationship to the theme
[edit | edit source]This session will address the conference theme — Wikimedia, Free Knowledge and the Sustainable Development Goals — in the following manner: This session is focusing on learning from each other and building capacity. By providing various resources for the community members and beyond, we’re working smarter and being more productive.
Session outcomes
[edit | edit source]At the end of the session, the following will have been achieved: These ideas can easily be applied in other communities. We will show the participants how to do it and how they can improve their work and reduce the time invested in reiterative activities.
Relation to other Spaces
[edit | edit source]These resources can also be used for Community Growth. They’re indirectly affecting quality of the content, but also they are digital tools that improves accessibility and can be used by everyone.
Requirements
[edit | edit source]The session will work best with these conditions:
- Room:
Room with a projector, and chairs around tables for easy discussions.
- Audience:
Proactive Wikipedians and Wikimedians, ideally those how are involved in Community Support.
- Recording:
This session is appropriate for filming and sharing under an open license.
