Description
[edit | edit source]Scholia is a web application with visualization of data about authors, articles, organizations, topics, etc. It uses the Wikidata Query Service to construct live updated webpages with data aggregated across Wikidata items. The idea of Scholia is to generate quick overviews to help researchers, librarians or other interested in a particular field.
Relationship to the theme
[edit | edit source]This session will address the conference theme — Wikimedia, Free Knowledge and the Sustainable Development Goals — in the following manner:
Goal 3. Good health and well-being: Scholia shows health-related publications, diseases, genes and topics.
Goal 4. Quality education: Scholia can be used as a free service to navigate scholarly publications, and it can serve as a tool to educate about Wikidata, RDF and Linked Open Data (see also the session Integrating Wikidata into Education).
Session outcomes
[edit | edit source]At the end of the session, the following will have been achieved:
- Awareness of Scholia and the possibilities associated with Wikidata and its query service
