We have the great pleasure to announce that Stockholm will be the host of Wikimania 2019, the largest annual conference of the Wikimedia movement with a thousand attendees expected from across the world. The theme of the conference will be “Stronger Together: Wikimedia, Free Knowledge and the Sustainable Development Goals”, and will thus be dedicated to how Wikimedia as a movement can help contribute towards fulfilling the Global Goals.

Wikipedia and the Wikimedia projects could be a key cornerstone in the work towards a sustainable world, and Wikimania 2019 will focus on methods to achieving that. For real impact, concrete leverage of our work and long-term cooperation, however, we need your help. Our goal is to make Stockholm a hub for free knowledge, up until, during and after the conference. Wikimania shall not only be a one-off event taking place at the university, but a concept reaching out through the city and further. Your contribution enables more events to take place throughout the city and the rest of the country, stronger communication efforts and a Wikimania rendering much more visibility.
