We have the great pleasure to announce that Stockholm will be the host of Wikimania 2019, the largest annual conference of the Wikimedia movement with a thousand attendees expected from across the world. The theme of the conference will be “Stronger Together: Wikimedia, Free Knowledge and the Sustainable Development Goals”, and will thus be dedicated to how Wikimedia as a movement can help contribute towards fulfilling the Global Goals.

Wikipedia and the Wikimedia projects could be a key cornerstone in the work towards a sustainable world, and Wikimania 2019 will focus on methods to achieving that. For real impact, concrete leverage of our work and long-term cooperation, however, we need your help. You love knowledge, we love making it free. The goal of the conference is to make sure that the Wikimedia movement’s work is better aligned with the work to fulfilling the Global Goals. As a Free Knowledge Supporter, you contribute to making the conference a success. You enable better accessibility in terms of documentation, dissemination and translation. With your contribution, we can spend the necessary time in preparing our volunteers with the immense task of welcoming all the attendees to Stockholm, and we can do all the small extra things that define a successful conference leading to impressive results.

In return, you get a small size table in the Community Village, located within the conference’s event venue to present your work, and a few VIP tickets and free conference passes so you can attend lots of interesting seminars and presentations, and meet all other knowledge lovers from across the world.

Game Changer

Our goal is to make Stockholm a hub for free knowledge, up until, during and after the conference. Wikimania shall not only be a one-off event taking place at the university, but a concept reaching out through the city and further. As a Game Changer, you help us spreading the waves from the event venue at Stockholm University to all parts of Stockholm and Sweden. Your contribution enables more events to take place throughout the city and the rest of the country, stronger communication efforts and a Wikimania rendering much more visibility. NGOs, prominent individuals, small tech startups – we can reach out further as a movement and with the conference with you as Game Changer.

In return, you will be a central part of the conference, get a table in the Community Village, located within the conference’s event venue to present your work and of course get a number of VIP tickets and free conference passes, to meet organizations and interesting people to collaborate with in the future.
