2019:Technology outreach & innovation/Mbabel tool: automatic articles on Wikipedia with Wikidata
This is an Accepted submission for the Technology space at Wikimania 2019. |
Description
[edit | edit source]In addition to the experimentations with lists and automatic infoboxes, the experimentation of integration between Wikipedia and Wikidata reaches another level with Mbabel, which allows the automatic generation of drafts of entries from information registered in Wikidata. Adapted and expanded from a template from user:Pharos, the Mbabel tool developed in Brazil by user:EricaAzzellini and user:Ederporto can generate a solid structure of a Wikipedia article about museums, works of art, books, films, newspapers, earthquakes and elections. The structured narratives include resources such as introductory text, automatic infobox, sessions suggestions according to each theme, content lists by Listeria, information tables and references - with all information provided by Wikidata. Over the last year, the Mbabel tool was used on GLAM Wiki initiatives and on educational context for Journalism students. In this session, attendees will g et to know: the concept of structured narratives; how Mbabel tool works; the tool development roadmap; the language challenges that came across it's development; how to integrate Wikidata and Wikipedia; and how to apply this tool to wider projects.
